    # BKM820 The BMP-1 was the Soviet Union's first fully tracked infantry fighting vehicle to see widespread use. Developed in the 1960's, it was designed to carry troops into battlefields while offering protection against potential chemical, nuclear, or biological contaminants. It carried a crew of three (driver, commander and gunner) plus eight fully equipped combat troops in the rear passenger compartment.The BMP's turret is armed with a smooth bore 73mm low-velocity, semi-automatic cannon and was also equipped with a rail-launcher for the Malyutka ant-tank guided missile. More than 20,000 BMPs have been produced and are still in service in Russia, the former Soviet republics, and various client states. While it barely arrived in time to see action, the M26 proved itself more than capable at standing toe-to-toe with the Tigers and Panthers, a difficult task for the M4 Sherman medium tanks. The M26 helped the Allies cross the Rhine and invade the Reich, ending the war in Europe. Use of the M26 continued into the Korean War, proving itself effective against Soviet armor in North Korea. The M26 lead to the development of the M46/M47/M48 Patton series of main battle tanks.     # BKM2065 The Panzer II was German light tank of World War II. It was a stop-gap design, rushed into production just prior to the outbreak of fighting, while the more advanced Panzer III and Panzer IVs were still under development. Armed with a 20mm cannon and MG34 machine gun, the Panzer proved to be a competent design and played a significant role early in the war. It participated in such as the campaigns in Poland, France, Soviet Union, and North Africa. While it was a successful design, the Panzer II’s light armor and weapons would be no match for heavier Allied equipment introduced later in the war. The Panzer II chassis was also used for several self-propelled guns, including the effective Mardar II tank destroyer and the Wespe 105mm howitzer. It was better armed, armored and more mobile than the more famous Tiger heavy tank, and is considered by many to be the best over-all tank design of World War II. The Ausf. G variant was the final version of the Panther to roll off the assembly lines, correcting a lot of deficiencies found when the Aus.f D and A model was used on the battlefield. The Panther has one of the most popular Brickmania armor kit releases, with several different versions released as early as 2003. This new version has a complete rebuild of the lower hull, suspension and engine sections and lowering the over-all height of the model significantly over previous editions.
