Messerschmitt Bf-109 "Kurfürst" (2016 Edition)

The Messerschmitt Bf-109 was the primary single-seat, piston engine fighter plane used by Germany during World War II. Developed in the 1930's to fulfill the fighter / interceptor role, it incorporated all the features that would be considered state-of-the art for World War II: an all-metal mono-plane and a fully enclosed canopy. The Bf-109 would see continual upgrades as technology advanced and its roles increased on the battlefield and in the skies. The Bf-109 K ("Kurfürst) was the final war-time iteration of Willy Messerschmitt's fighter design. It also participated heavily in battles such as Operation Bodenplatte (Baseplate) during the Battle of the Bulge. The Messerschmitt Bf-109 was the most produced fighter aircraft design of all time and saw service for two decades after the close of World War II.
